Hello everyone, my name is Erena and i’d like to tell you a little bit about myself.
Four years ago, I enrolled to study tourism at Otago Polytechnic. I wanted to travel and learn about the world, but the more I learnt, the more I realised I was mainly interested in the business side of things.
Three years ago, I switched to business studies. It was fun, exciting and interesting. It set me up with so many amazing opportunities including an internship at Ocho Chocolate Comapany.
Which bring me to now, where I have officially been apart of the Ocho Chocolate Company team for a year and a half!
Ocho is a craft chocolate company whose products are made in New Zealand. The name Ocho is a blend of the words “Otago” and “chocolate” because it was founded in Dunedin, the home of chocolate.
Ocho has a variety of luxury chocolate products, and their production is extremely hands-on. Their cocoa beans are hand sorted before being roasted, winnowed, refined and conched. They are also ethically sourced from the Pacific Islands.

Ocho was founded by Liz Rowe, who is aware of the love for chocolate around the world, and believes that New Zealand’s positive reputation and image for it’s fresh ingredients will be a pull factor for international consumers to buy Ocho’s products.
Interrelated nature of internal, domestic and global marketing
Ocho has marketed their products so well internally that all of their staff have a clear understanding of Ocho, what it stands for and what it wants to achieve. Because our marketing team had such a comprehensive understanding, we were able to market the products domestically very successfully.
Our domestic marketing campaigns sparked interest and made consumers want to find out more. Because all of our business and personal messages aligned, customers trusted us and became loyal to our brand.
And that’s why I have been tasked and trusted with finding international opportunities for our company. This blog will tell you everything you need to know about doing business as a chocolate company in Buenos Aires.
